When I download the game it only gives the sprites not the actualy game I have tryed every download button, but it does not give me the game does anyone here Know how to fix that?
for windows (I don’t have any other device to test this on but it should be kind of the same I think???) download the correct .zip, extract it from downloads to wherever you want, go to the “clangen” folder, and search for “clangen.exe” and open it! Your antivirus may flag it but it’s not malicious or anything!
you'll need a PC to play as the game doesn't work on chrome, I don't know why buy I've tried before. Once you do end up getting a PC, you can download "Itch.Io" and use it that way. This may not be much help but I tried ^^

I love this game so much ahhh!! I got a few suggestions for this game! :D - You can make a specific cat do an action (Echo'star told bramble'pelt was rude) - I'm not sure if this is already added to the game, but it'd be interesting if another cat hated a cat so much they got killed. I feel like its be rlly cool if decisions mattered way more! (or its just me.) - When you make your own clan theres randomly generated clans that are going to be involved in the story. It would be cool if you let the player make the other clans and also the cats! Or let the player have other clans and mash it up with the current clan they have. (if that makes sense) - Its a bit annoying for me when you switch clans it all the sudden kicks you out of the game. I know thats how its supposed to be, but it would have been better if it didn't

cats can murder each other if their dislike or jealousy get to hate or resentment! but i had a bloodthirsty medicine cat murder a cat they only very slightly disliked (just a little less of one bar), so i guess it's also really rng
+ you can customize bordering clans in your current clan, you can go into your clan's json file (not the folder) in open data directory > saves, and rename your bordering clans
it depends not only on ur PC but if u have a phone or not. The game doesn't download on phone and there are certain ways to download it, you may also need the computer app called "Itch.io" to download it on PC
it used to work just fine, but I'm not sure what changed, the screen goes to the loading screen then goes black right after. I asked my friend and she said she was having the same problem, I re-downloaded all the files, reloaded and reopened the page, but it just won't work.

I have a cat who has had a sprain for, somehow, -2 moons? she's had it for a several moons, and I think I saw one time that it said she had recovered, but she still has the injured sprite and can't go on patrols. My save has been really buggy lately, so I'm sure this is a glitch of some kind.
Edit: Um, okay, it happened with my deputy too. I hope there's a fix for this.
Edit 2: NEVERMIND, ONE OF THEM HAS RECOVERED. STILL CONFUSED THOUGH

last i heard there's currently only one person working on the web version, since the main dev of the web version stepped down if i remember. there may be more people who have joined the web version team, but unfortunately it's going to be near-impossible to replicate the newest version of downloadable clangen in a website
I made a OC called chilly from this game. She is a former loner who was found wandering around on Podclan territory as a 4 moon old kit. Her appearance is a red and pepper-blue spotted Mackrell tabby who wears jays wings on her tail. Quickly she was prophesied and Her mate, Fallenrunner, (a creamy colour point Tom who wears cardinal feathers) Was murdered. Luckily his apprentice saw this, immediately telling her and resulting in a cats exile. Chilly is now peacefully living in podclan as the deputy along with her many kits, though there is more too come snd she senses it.
when this is downloaded, will it take you into a new tab, window, or will it take you to the file? Basically i want to know if i can easily exit it and get out of fullscreen.
hey- do you have any details? and what operating system are you using? (Windows, Mac, or Linux/Chromebook?) There's a myriad of reasons why you might not be able to open the game
So, I have a really weird problem. I don't know if it's my computer or what, but recently when I try to open the Clangen game it says there was an error. It didn't do it a couple times, so I just played on after that, but now it won't open once. I really don't want to reinstall the game and have all of my clans deleted. What should I do?
Yes, you need to reinstall this and delete your old file. I had the same issue. Don't worry though! It will not delete your clans you have saved, as that's a different thing. Hope this helps! :D
is there a way to add new suffixes and prefixes to the name pool? I have a clan called RockClan and the name theme is rocks and gems, and it does get a little tiring putting it all in manually
do you know if I need to do it in alpabetical order like the other prefixes and suffixes? I keep trying, and it's likely because I don't know enough about coding or I need a special program, but after I put in the names and try loading the game, I get errors and it crashes
nah I don't think there's any reason they'd need to be in alphabetical order Most likely you've made some sort of error, or something, but that's hard to troubleshoot without seeing your code.

i believe it's on the backburner since expanded mode is still unfinished; they'll have to finish expanded mode first before moving on to cruel season. there is a new feature in dev though, a freshkill pile, which may add some difficulty and challenge

can you try going in your system preferences > privacy and security and look for a bit that says something like "clangen was blocked from use because it's not from an identified developer" and see if there's a button to open anyways?
Can we have gathering info!! It would be super cool to see other cat from different clans!! Then cats with short legs or different types of ears! And new poses, I love this game by the way!
gathering info is most likely going to be a thing eventually. there's already a couple of events that refer to the gathering, and it's planned for there be more in the future.
All the other suggestions you've made would require incredible amounts of spritework to pull off- especially new poses, which would require Every Single Spritesheet to be reworked a lot. The team's done it once when adding special poses for sick/injured and paralyzed cats, and the amount of work put into it was insane. It'd be even more now thanks to more pelts, tortie patterns, and white patches being added each update.
So the sprite-related suggestions will most likely not be added. A mod for some of those could be neat though!
you might be referring to the "show accessory" button when magnifying a cat's pose on their profile, which can be clicked again to remove the accessory (but not permanently)
Hi! Dunno if you got around to it, but if you still cannot open it: right click the app icon and click on "open" manually instead of just double clicking the app. It will give another prompt but just select Open again and it should run :)
im on windows 11, ive downloaded it a couplw times and have tried to look everywhere for a way to actully play/open the game but i cannot find out how, like i can see it in my files i just can tfind out how to actually play it from there

you need to search for “clangen.exe” and open it! It may give a “windows protected your PC” message but it’s just a false flag :)

don’t worry, it’s because it’s an unrecognized .exe file. It’s not malicious, it’s your computer/antivirus falsely flagging it!

yes, you can download it on Chromebook. I'd suggest joining the discord for help with this since it can be a bit finicky to set up.

exiled cats just live longer funnily enough, someone posted their exiled cat who lived to 1200 moons (100 years) in the discord

The game isn't fullscreen by default, so I'm not sure if this is really a problem? And it doesn't generally open any new windows when it's downloaded

we don't know. Currently, Cruel Season is planned to come off the back burner once all the features of Expanded are finished.

once you've extracted it, the thing you actually need to open can be a bit buried in the file, so you might be opening the wrong thing

you can add names to names.json by going to clangen > resources > dicts > names ^^

at the moment it's just a suggestion to let you tell your own stories, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
I suggest in the future to have a list with the other clans and their cats and / or have a button to switch to those other clans 🌟

I wish cats accessories were removable ...
on dev version there is a "destroy accessory" function in the dangerous tab, though it removes the accessory completely with no way to return it

if you’re on windows… you should just be able to hit “show more” with the unidentified developer thing. It should show a “run anyway” button.
