I tried to update my game to v0.11.2 but it gets stuck. How long should it take? Cause it's been 50 minutes and it is still stuck. Or Am I having some kind of issue? Please help me.
for anyone having issues with Windows Defender deleting their game, here's a solution copy pasted from the Discord:

It's come to our attention that anti-virus programs, most recently and commonly Windows Defender, have been quarantining files from the game for a lot of players, including the .exe file. This is likely because of changes within those programs and something we have no control over and can't stop from happening, unfortunately
Instead we're going to tell you how you can get past this yourself if you are encountering this issue while using Windows Defender. Do note that this may not work for 3rd-party anti-virus programs.
Please follow these steps!
Open Settings on your device and navigate to the tab called "Privacy and security".
Go to "Virus & threat protection"
Look for and go to "Protection History" under the Quick Scan button.
You should see Clangen listed here, under "Affected items". It should say the location of your Clangen game folder and the file that disappeared (Don't act on it if you see a file that isn't inside your Clangen game folder). Click on the "Actions" button menu and choose "Restore".
Go back to "Virus and threat protection" screen and from there, to "Manage settings".
Under "Exclusions", go to "Add or remove exclusions"
Choose from the "+ Add an Exclusion" dropdown to exclude a "Folder".
Choose the game folder that your Clangen game resides in.
Finished! You should in most cases be able to play the game again.
To everyone who has problems loading Clangen due to your windows security.... (I had the same problem)
Firstly download from this website like normal.
Next thing is to instead of exporting the files to make it unzipped right away, just tap run on the game. It probably will say something like you can't, but the moment the notification saying there is a threat shows up, quickly tap on it. Then it should take u to settings. Tap on the severe, then tap on the option that says let it run.
Then go back to the game, export it, launch it, press run, and it should work. (At least it did for me).

I had 4 folders with clans, now I only have 7 clans, the game disappeared from my computer folder, now I'm accessing it through the applications area, but this is causing my game to go down the drain. the game is appearing out of date, like it used to be, I already played it once, however I deleted it because my clans had disappeared, so I downloaded it again, it's been a few months and now it's back in the same clans that I used to play the first time, but I really I want my current clans back😭

if that doesn't work, I don't really know without screenshots. And it might require some file digging to get your old clans back- may I suggest you join the discord?

At first the clangen app turned into a note files so i re-downloaded it (confirmed my firewall allows me to play it) and the app wont launch. I dont know what to do
When I'm patrolling and one of my cats gets injured, I don't see the condition happening. One of my cats got bitten by a dog on a patrol, and it said "Littleback got bite-wound" but they didn't get the condition itself. Its the same with herbs. Not with prey, so my clan doesn't die off.
i love the game but whenever i try and download it and open it, it wont open and when i try and open it in the files menu it just takes me to the game folders (like the data of the game)

im also having the problem, i had it downloaded and in my taskbar but then the icon turned to a blank page and told me the same thing. i tried redownloading it two times but it would just delete the exe file or give me a popup that it has unwanted files or is a virus and doesnt let me do anything. (im on a windows laptop!) EDIT: i followed the antivirus errors stuff, and it worked! i highly reccomend it! thanks clangen team :D
it wont let me download this on my mac, i had to delete this as the new update wouldnt work, it wouldnt let me play, when i pressed continue or even new clan it would kick me off. now i try re download it and it says this file hasnt been updated and apple cant check it for malicous software. what should i do? is it my mac or has it not been updated properly? i love this game and am very sad it wont work. :(
I have seen pictures on google which point to the fact on the new update, cats can talk. I have tried multiple ways to get them to talk (relationship logs, relationships timeskip events) etc. but I still have no idea how I can get them to talk!

Can you specify the reason you can't use the downloadable version? It might be fixable, but if it isn't, I suggest going to the discord and bringing up the problem there, there are many people who would be glad to help :]

I think you should add the ability to double kill cats (kill dead cats) since One of mine turned out to be a kit killer and I would like to kill that guy permanently
if you don't have many cats, you could turn fading on, and go into everyone's settings to check the 'prevent fading' box except for that one cat. however, that'll still be 202 moons of that cat being alive, so you can tamper with the "fading" part in the game_config.json in your clangen folder > resources and turn "age_to_fade" to any lower number you want (like turning 202 moons to something like 15 moons so they fade away earlier) but that's a lot of hassle
alternatively you could send him to the dark forest if you haven't yet

How do I tell what device I am using? (Ex: Is my device windows or Mac?) I am on pc and I didn't put it together/got apps installed so I do not know what file to download. I tried Windows 64 and all i got was a 'Can't open' pop up. Please help i want to play but the online version just becomes something you need to scroll just to play.
we also don't know the devs don't do release dates, and I don't know if there's more major features still to be added, or if there are, what they would be

I'd recommend joining the discord if you can, since Chromebook/Linux Clangen can be kinda finicky to set up, and I'm not very experienced with it at all

happened to me too, i just deleted and reinstalled it...
Im on linux and the new version wont update, do I need to redo the entire process with the linux download again?

Dude I just updated my ClanGen and all my old clans are gone. I HAD A 500 MOON CLAN *sobs*
And when I tried to update it it just nuked itself off my PC :(. Can someone help me ples?
When I try to update it, the thing that tells me to press a key disappears whenever I try to.
I tried reopening the old game, but my computer is heavily monitored by my parents, so I cannot even restore anything!!!
Unfortunately, many people are having these issues too, for now we'll have to wait until it's fixed.

same, I just got the threat alert from Windows Defender! was very scared for a moment lol I've never had any virus problems before
I'm pretty sure it's not a virus, it's just the window's defender being paranoid because it was downloaded from a program it can't recognize.

extract the downloaded file, then double click the .exe file in it and click 'More info' on the popup window, then 'Run anyway'

It's not an issue with Clangen, Mac just doesn't trust the file
Try right click opening your game? you may need to try twice for it to work

yes, this is just your computer being concerned that you're downloading a random .exe file from the internet

That's from Lifegen, which is a standalone mod of Clangen that you can get on the official Clangen discord server.
I think that the function ur talking about is in lifegen, which is a clangen mod, it can be downloaded as a separate game from itch.io

assuming you're using web version, try resizing the window to a square?

make sure you're not in fullscreen, then click and drag around the edge of the window

Lost cats can return on moonskip events. You can't find them via patrols though.

My laptop is a ASUS Chromebook. I was trying to download the Linux version of Clangen. I was able to extract the file, but I can't play it.

there was a broken update for a bit but it's fixed now
if you updated to the broken update, you will need to redownload the game, from here or from https://clangen.io/download
Clangen won't open for me. Linux keeps saying its bad value and error.
