Hey! I recently started playing ClanGen on GitHub but after about a week or so of playing the loading screen won’t show the opening page, it’s just black. Anyone know what to do, or will I not be able to get back into the game?
try clearing site data. Maybe that happened to Hazelshade. you'l lose your clans but the site should work. its a bit finicky since Blackie is the only one working on it to get it updated, so if it doesnt work give them some slack!
I've tried both windows 32 and 64 and I cannot get this to work. I've tried deleting everything i've downloaded and trying again. Keeps saying the python file cant be located? :(
idk where to put issues with the game but i will start here i guess. for pc context i play on a late 2013 imac desktop and i got his error message when trying to open the game after placing it in my applications after doing some of the game installation. hopefully this gets fixed i really wanna play this game!
click the question mark on the malware pop-up, and from there it should direct you to a page that gives some info on how to fix it. i did that and from there i clicked this little link that directed me to a page that allowed me to open clangen w/o any issue.
I installed the correct one (linux), but i see neither Clangen.exe or main.py. I even tried installing the second one but it was the same. i just wanna play cat game :(
Hi! Open files, and find the folder named Clangen. Scroll down in the files until you see one named Clangen. Click on that, and allow it to extract the files. Then scroll down and click on file titled Clangen, with the warrior cats symbol next to it.
are you trying to get the source code version? that might be an issue and you have to make sure you have the right linux. Chromebooks use 2.31, and other devices use 2.35.
I have found two bugs that I believe have been caused by the new update, first off is that no cat in my clan (that I made today after updating) is a female, the next is cats talking about missing a leg even when they have all of theirs.
Hello, I'm having problems with the dev version of clangen. I did everything the same as before, but now the game doesn't start, freezes, and thonny writes about the error. Does anyone maybe know what the problem is?
Weird, mine doesn't open or load after the pop up appeared and all I did was download the windows64 version, extract it, and open it

Its to be excpected, Blackfur is the only dev working on it for the new updates now so until they finish converting (web uses python 2 and clangen uses python 3) its prone to glitches.
Heya! I just started playing and multiple cats from the beginning of my play of it saying they have the shock condition and won't be able to work, and it'd last one moon. But it hasn't been clearing up for any of the cats? I'm unsure on how to resolve that ^^"
when i first downloaded it, it was doing rlly well! but then I screwed everything up somehow by pinning the application to my taskbar. and now when i tried to open the application the next day, it gave me some error and basically told me it wont open. i decided to delete everything and download it again, and when that happened the application didn't even show up with the extracted files. i don't understand why but i don't know what to do. :'D

I think the poses depend on the length of the fur. because whenever I have long haired cats they always have that sideways tilt. And short haired cats have that sort of tail up - chin up pose.
Im struggling with the Windows version, i click the file go down to Clangen and when i try to go into the game it says Fatal error detected and that the specific modal could not be found, how do i fix this?
In that case I do not know. Maybe try the Discord? If you don't have it, there's Tumblr too. And if you don't have either, check YouTube for tutorials. Those are the only ideas I have for your problem.
I believe it is possible, but it depends on the event that caused them to become lost (And it might also vary between game modes? I always play on Expanded). Some events seem to send them directly to StarClan, others should add them to an "outside the clans" tab in the Cat List. There are rare events you can encounter while patrolling that will bring lost cats back into your clan sometimes :) I think they're very unusual to see, but I know some folks have had this happen.
It depends on the text you get when you lost your cat, I've had a single cat being taken three times and coming back after a few moons, while some of mine showed up in deaths & births, being sent to StarClan.
its not stupid! First you need Linux enabled, then download the Linux 2.31+ version! then open the .tar.xz file and run tar xz (the file) in Terminal, go to the new folder and run ~/Clangen/Clangen in terminal again!

I LOVE what you did with vengeful cats! idk if its new or not, but my vengeful leader mauled another cat for questioning their leadership. its a first time for me seeing it, but even if its not new I still love that their trait was acted upon!

Hey im trying to download the file yet it doesnt seem to be working for whatever reason. I tried both (64 and 32) But for some reason it didn't get to the end of the download everytime. I also checked if it was my internet being slow but it wasnt as well. I hope you'll provide an answer! :]

Howdy partner: there isn't technically a way to turn off cats transitioning nor will we ever add that to the game!
However if you want to set a cats gender, you can do so under the "PERSONAL" tab on the cats profile. There you can choose to do whatever you want to the cats gender!
Thanks, was just wondering, it just feels out of place in a game about cats. Also as a side note, wouldn't it be counter productive to be able to force them into genders? Having an option to disable them switching is basically jusy a streamlined option.
the majority of our team is queer, in some shape or form, and that's reflected in the game. none of us feel comfortable with any form of disallowing cats to transition, especially when there's a button to change them back to cisgender. it may not make sense to you, and that's ok, but it's something that's important to us
I feel like it isn’t counterproductive because of a few reasons.
1. These are clan cats, they are personified and very sentient, so it’s only realistic for them to question the gender role given to them at birth, obviously, it’s just a game, and it doesn’t need to be realistic, but it’s still a option that makes the game feel more real and makes each cat feel real as well. It’s not out of the ordinary for a person in real life to decide being male or female doesn’t sit right with them, so that is why it’s portrayed in the game to make the cats feel heavily personified :]
2. it doesn’t bother anything in the game. It’s not counterproductive, nor productive, it remains neutral and doesn’t effect gameplay at all. A cat deciding it wants to have “Tom’ instead of “She-cat” in its alliegance list does not affect gameplay and it is just a option for making people feel more accepted as trans identities become more well-known, and, I’d hate to say it, but it’s purely cosmetic and it’s not really a think that needs to be changed. It’s not bothersome, it’s not affecting gameplay, and it’s a really small change to the gameplay otherwise.
Overall having the transgender identities in the game makes queer players feel more accepted, and people who feel at discomfort about this need to just, politely, and put in the most lighthearted way, “Suck it up.” Because it’s not going to bother you if a pixelated cat decides it wants to be a different gender. And if you still cannot accept this even after the paragraphs I wrote, then that’s why there’s a “change gender” option for if you would like to change it back to the original gender.
I noticed this is a really old comment but I’d still like to reply on it so you can understand why the trans identities thing is important and should not be removed due to your discomfort over a cat game :]
I've gotten the Error "Failed to execute script 'main' due to unhandled exception: list index out of range" I've checked and I couldn't find the Main.py file? Not sure if this is an error on my part or not, I freshly installed 3 times from the win64 zip.
You know where you can play video games and it'll show on your discord profile like "playing Skyrim for 10:34"? It does that, but with Clangen! It'll just show on your profile that you're on the pixel kitty game <3
The game is progressing so good and I love the new kit sprites! One thing I would love is a map around twoleg place. Instead of being taken by a hawk it could be that they were taken by a twoleg, cats could get run over from monsters and more! Not to rush as well, but is there and idea of when the cruel season will be coming out? I'm super exited for it!
I think they already added cats getting taken by two-legs, they fall for some trap on border patrol and get taken away by two-legs. Also cats can get run over by monsters when crossing the thunderpath while theyre on hunt patrol.

Does anyone know how to cure cats who are in shock? In conditions it says “has been hurt for one moon” but it’s been multiple moons
That shows how long they have been hurt for so far not how long till its over. It takes multiple moons till they heal from shock.
So if it’s been a lot of moons and it still says “hurt for one moon” it’s probably a glitch? none of the cats who are in shock have recovered.

right click opening should fix that

Go to settings > Security & privacy > then allow clangen

Ik, I just wished we had the same options, it's hard finding new cats to join the Clan through Classic mode :(
there is one for the latter, go into Settings from the menu and diable 'allow mass extinction events.'

I find it takes 2-6 moons for a cat to recover from shock.

yep! Linux download 2.31, extract file by running tar .xz, then ./Clangen in the new folder
Three ideas:
1. Make sure it's the download for your computer.
2. Try re-downloading and moving the data into the game.
3. Try opening it through files.

They, I think, are dead, like if you look in the star clan tab, you should see them there.
They can come back through timeskip events.

I'm on a chrombook, I downloaded the game. How do I open it to play? Sorry if this sounds stupid, this is my first time on this website.

hmm, if youre on an hp laptop youll probably need one of the windows versions. Look it up on how to run if you need more help.

This is what I do. I extract the file, click the file, click the 'Clangen' folder, and then scroll down until you see the Clangen exe file

I wasn't aware of the in game update and deleted my entire game like we used to have to do. Lemme just go cry.
