The web version is not really being maintained right now. The lead dev for web ver stepped away a while back and nobody's really taken their place yet.
Are you getting a Microsoft Defender notification? Defender gets rid of the exe file because it thinks that it could be a threat. It isn't a real threat though, so you need to go into the settings and restore the exe (There's a proper guide on the Discord server if that's the issue)
Whenever a new update comes out, my clangen stops working and wont open, is there something i can do to fix/prevent this? (this has happened 4 times) (im using windows)
you'll get a 'zip' folder which looks like a zipped up folder, right click and click 'extract all' from the drop down menu, then extract it into the empty clangen folder. If you have an antivirus, turn it off temporarily and then search 'clangen.exe' from within the folder, and double click the result it gives you (it should be a warrior cats logo but sometimes it has a little blue box icon instead, it's the same thing). Hit 'run' on the pop-up after you open it. Sometimes you get a malware warning, but hit 'run anyway'. The warning only happens because the game uses .exe files and most downloadable nowadays don't use .exe.
I suggest making a shortcut on your desktop screen if you don't want to find it in the folder every time you open it.

Its not letting me download? i can play the online version but when i go to download the downloadable version it says downloaded but i cant find it anywhere??? please help
if you look at your download history on your web browser you should be able to "show in folder," or click on a folder icon, to see it. Look for an icon in the upper right corner of your browser window that looks like an arrow pointing down at a horizontal line. Once I found it, I opened the Clangen folder and then right-clicked on clangen.exe and chose "Pin to taskbar" so I could find it again.
I tried to open the game on a tab on google chrome but when it opened up it was way to zoomed in and I have tried multiple things but I just cant figure it out. Does anyone else know how to fix it?

When I try to update my formerly downloaded Clangen version to the newest one my antivirus software tells me that there's apparently a trojan virus? I've seen the antivirus error post, but it feels weird that my antivirus is explicitly telling me that it's a trojan.
it is freaking out because it's a .exe file. That file type was often used for trojan viruses, but this game is perfectly safe and doesn't contain one.
Not that I know of, I think they're trying out features, that adds up to the cruel season, which with how current production is going [Not trying to be rude to the Devs]. . it might take a while, considering the Devs have their own lives to deal with and stuff.
I tried to download the LifeGen. I sucessfully downloaded it and extracted it, but now my downloads can't be accessed. Did I download a virus or something?
If anyone asks if a file is safe, I can confirm it is. My antivirus flagged it as 'potentially dangerous' because sometimes antiviruses get triggered by certain aspects of game programs. There was a comment in the comments that it was because of autoloading or autosave, can't remember

yes. they are false alarms due to the autoupdater in the game. if you're still unsure, that's completely fine, and if you want to see inside it for yourself you can check out the source code on their github
I'm sure someone else has asked in the past, but what is up with Cruel Season? It says coming soon, I always end up with too many cats and have been looking forward to a gamemode that is actually difficult.
Or like Lifegen, is there other mods or echos of this game that add things for more difficulty?
Cruel Season is a planned feature that's just not in the game yet. Last I checked it was planned to be worked on once Expanded has all its features, since it would be a harder version of Expanded.
I don't know any mods that are specifically for increasing difficulty. However you could always do some form of challenge clan- maybe a clan where you must always antagonize outsiders, never accept?
I play ClanGen online as my windows computer is mean to me when I download things. However, my online ClanGen has been down most of the day. I can make a new clan, name it, add cat, but when I go to pick a location (mountains, plains, etc.) and I click "done" it no longer loads. everything is greyed out. it currently updating or is my software just crap?
for ppl confused on how to get it running you just need to extract the file(: (the button that is shown on the screenshot also its gonna be called extract alll not this bc am polish and there is a big chance u have the english setting turned on also when you click to run the game a blue screen might pop up just click more info the run app for anyone confused)

I'm on a school computer and can't access everything. So, downloading is an issue. You replied that if I couldn't download it, I could just open it up in my browser. Lucky me, it worked. I've been playing it for at least one day and have an issue. The error: When I was loading into the first screen where it asked me what clan I wanted, new clan, switch, etc. Then, before I could even see to go and create or load into my clans, a black screen came up and I couldn't get out of it.
Things I've tried: Refreshing the screen, exiting off the page, restarting Chromebook. Anything else?
You could try using a different browser, or trying in incognito mode?
If those don't work, then you can clear your cache, which does often fix black screens. However, that will also delete your saves, so definitely try other things first!

the green tab on the left side of a cat's history box will take you back to the editable notes.

You will require WinRar to unzip it, it comes with a free trial.

They're saying Sampeak is a leader when they're not, Sampeak still dies. I've seen people commet glitches so I thought this was okay to post.

LifeGen nor ClanGen is a virus, as it's likely your firewall false-flagged it, unless you have images of what you did?
Nope it was fine, actually it was empty and I didn't notice. I'm still a little jumpy about this game even though I know it isn't a virused game

It's basically the same thing, your computer is concerned that you're downloading an unsigned .exe file from the internet.
You should be able to look for "more info" or "run anyway" to bypass it.
why is it not just available on itch? is it too laggy for it?
Clangen isn't working, not sure why but whenever I download it and try to extract the zip file I get a popup that says:
"Cannot Complete the Compressed (zipped) Folders Extraction Wizard
access is denied.
Before you can extract files, you must change the permission to this folder"

i cant open the clangen game, and no i cant get discord either. im on windows 10 (maybe 11) and it says this:

LoadLibrary: the specified module could not be found.
i did as you guys said for the virus thing and also clicked on 'Clangen.exe' but still nothing.
Make sure you didn't move the clangen application out of the folder? And if you did move it out of the folder, you need to put it back
