unfortunately no as Blackfur is the only dev working to try and update it on python 2 as the official game runs on python 3. You can try clearing site data though, but youll lose your clans.
Howdy partner: there isn't technically a way to turn off cats transitioning nor will we ever add that to the game!
However if you want to set a cats gender, you can do so under the "PERSONAL" tab on the cats profile. There you can choose to do whatever you want to the cats gender!
Thanks, was just wondering, it just feels out of place in a game about cats. Also as a side note, wouldn't it be counter productive to be able to force them into genders? Having an option to disable them switching is basically jusy a streamlined option.
the majority of our team is queer, in some shape or form, and that's reflected in the game. none of us feel comfortable with any form of disallowing cats to transition, especially when there's a button to change them back to cisgender. it may not make sense to you, and that's ok, but it's something that's important to us
I feel like it isn’t counterproductive because of a few reasons.
1. These are clan cats, they are personified and very sentient, so it’s only realistic for them to question the gender role given to them at birth, obviously, it’s just a game, and it doesn’t need to be realistic, but it’s still a option that makes the game feel more real and makes each cat feel real as well. It’s not out of the ordinary for a person in real life to decide being male or female doesn’t sit right with them, so that is why it’s portrayed in the game to make the cats feel heavily personified :]
2. it doesn’t bother anything in the game. It’s not counterproductive, nor productive, it remains neutral and doesn’t effect gameplay at all. A cat deciding it wants to have “Tom’ instead of “She-cat” in its alliegance list does not affect gameplay and it is just a option for making people feel more accepted as trans identities become more well-known, and, I’d hate to say it, but it’s purely cosmetic and it’s not really a think that needs to be changed. It’s not bothersome, it’s not affecting gameplay, and it’s a really small change to the gameplay otherwise.
Overall having the transgender identities in the game makes queer players feel more accepted, and people who feel at discomfort about this need to just, politely, and put in the most lighthearted way, “Suck it up.” Because it’s not going to bother you if a pixelated cat decides it wants to be a different gender. And if you still cannot accept this even after the paragraphs I wrote, then that’s why there’s a “change gender” option for if you would like to change it back to the original gender.

I've gotten the Error "Failed to execute script 'main' due to unhandled exception: list index out of range" I've checked and I couldn't find the Main.py file? Not sure if this is an error on my part or not, I freshly installed 3 times from the win64 zip.
You know where you can play video games and it'll show on your discord profile like "playing Skyrim for 10:34"? It does that, but with Clangen! It'll just show on your profile that you're on the pixel kitty game <3
The game is progressing so good and I love the new kit sprites! One thing I would love is a map around twoleg place. Instead of being taken by a hawk it could be that they were taken by a twoleg, cats could get run over from monsters and more! Not to rush as well, but is there and idea of when the cruel season will be coming out? I'm super exited for it!
I think they already added cats getting taken by two-legs, they fall for some trap on border patrol and get taken away by two-legs. Also cats can get run over by monsters when crossing the thunderpath while theyre on hunt patrol.
hiya! Whenever I try to play the web version it says “error occurred: unexpected keyword: ‘import’” so I'm wondering if this is able to be fixed or I just need to play a different version
I have a great idea that might add to the game more. What if we had a option to choose an accessory for your cats? It would be a tab underneath the "personal" tab. Just if you wanted to add more story to your characters. You could also change an accessory if you wanted a different accessory or didn't want one anyway. (This also is a chance to add more of the accessories to the game) :)
I don't believe that is planned or is going to be an aspect of the game, unfortunately! We on the team do want ClanGen to be more of a generator that a doll dress up game, so as for now the only way your cats will be able to get accessories will be by gaining them randomly in moon events <3
For the new update, how do I transfer my old clan files? It doesn’t update them automatically for me and even when I moved them to the “saves” item, nothing has been listed.
The web version is currently being updated! That problem is known about and attempting to be fixed by those working on the web version though, don't worry! :)
I would love it if we could change the cat colors in expanded mode in a future update! I really want some more customization that isn't entirely randomized! This game makes clan making so fun!
As far as I know (I'm not a dev), the devs have gone on to say this is not something that's planned. People on the discord have, however, modded cat creators, and you should go there to browse them and learn how to edit your files.
i don't know how to open the game on chromebook, i've tried downloading it but i'm not sure how to take it from a download file in my folder to a working, running game. can anybody help?
download the zip and use extract all go into files and go into the extracted file and scroll till you find something called clangen its an application, open that and your done
On classic mode cats who go into shock seem to just, stay in shock? And it always displays as "been sick for 1 moon" even if they have been in shock for 6 and on expanded mode they heal after 1 time skip so I think it s bug
I do not play on mac, but you would have to go into the code by clicking the directory button in the bottom left in the settings screen. You then just have to locate the linked files, pull them into a file editor, and rename each instance of the clan name and rename the files themselves to match.

This happens with new tabs of the Github clangen. If you have a mac, or whatever this is available on, I recommend downloading it. Otherwise it will have to be updated to fix. (Im not a developer, this just happens to me and clangen friends)
Similar to this, but i believe we have spoken about not wanting to add any mental ailments to clangen, just out of respect and not wanting to misinterpret or display them in a wrong light. We also do want to keep ClanGen pretty open to the player's creativity, so rigid traits like this likely aren't going to be a thing :) Clangen also isn't open to suggestions at the moment so please keep that in mind, thank you.
Whenever I leave the game and close my files, then go to start it up again, it says: "Error, python38.dll cannot be found" I have to extract all the files and then start it up for it to work, why does this happen? Its annoying!!!
it says error loading python dll the specified modile could not be found it was working the first time ive tried both win 64 and win 32 zips ill try the online version see if that works

I’m not sure about what people mean when they talk about “newer” versions, If they mean current updates or the big one when a lot of the interactive parts were added. The dev version is hosted on the github linked above! Dev stands for "in development", as it is for testing possible features for the future and fixing bugs (as such, it is very buggy at times)
The development team recommends just sticking to this public itch.io version since it is much more stable than the dev version.
As of this recent update from a few days ago, we can now update the game automatically rather than redownloading the file every time (which we used to do)

This is a common problem with the web version, which is currently being worked on by Blackfur. The web version takes a lot of time and patience to work on and because of this, it does have some problems like this, which Blackfur is aware of. The itch version is suggested to use over the web version, if you can :)
there was a way to run the development version using an android app, but it was highly buggy, crashed very often, and, from what i've heard, no longer works at all since fullscreen mode was added. please make sure you fact-check your claims in the future to avoid spreading misinformation :)
Random passing idea I've had for a few days, but i think it would be cool if we had a city area for one of the BGs, doesn't need to happen i just thought it would be neat
we never commit to updates at particular times, or any order of updates. this is because our team is 100% volunteers - we don't want to cause undue pressure by forcing deadlines. we essentially work on what we want, when we want, though we do try to aim for monthly releases. sorry this wasn't the answer you were hoping for!
The online version has stopped working for me, I have tried on both phone and laptop, the phone using data, and the laptop using wifi. It keeps getting stuck on a blue screen, and I am unable to play. I also cannot download the game, as it just comes up with a lot of files, such as 'sprites, etc.' I deleted those, as they were taking up some space in my laptop. I just want to draw my cats and watch my clan TnT
Do you mean an Acer cromebook (I think that’s the one without a windows or Linux system etc right?) I have a regular Acer Laptop with windows and can download the windows version just fine :)

This is what I do. I extract the file, click the file, click the 'Clangen' folder, and then scroll down until you see the Clangen exe file

I was playing clangen, then it said one of my cats were expecting kits. I realized that cat was a male. Males can't have kits?
