edit: while investigating we found these are likely false positives (maybe only in the 64 version) but they are pretty alarming false positives that several people are experiencing.

Hello! I'm the mod being referenced in many of the comments. I can assure you that there is no trojan virus in the code. This is a problem that has been reported before and ClanGen is also frequently flagged and deleted by most AntiVirus programs. The FAQ above does mention this.
Keep in mind that the code is completely open source and free to view at any time by anyone, so anyone who is worried can view the code for themselves to check for anything malicious. Additionally, we have many coders who contribute to the game and review any code that is going to be added, especially when it's code from someone new, so it's unlikely that any viruses would ever end up in the code.

i've kind of run into a repetitive issue that may just be a small gameplay nitpick but- i use classic mode occasionally to fully spectate a clan, hands off the wheel. however uh. everyone keeps dying. like everyone. and i HAVE to interfere by forcing mate pairs or picking out new deputies/med cats which is. not what i want to do. do i just have bad luck or do i really have to have some part in what's happening?
I've had the same problem on one of mine too? There is a setting so that leaders can choose a new deputy but I get what you mean by having to pick mates instead of them just doing it automatically! It could be a bug? Or something else?
cats can decide to become mates themselves, if youre playing the latest version, i mostly play the expended version, but they should be able to make mates themselves
Not sure if it's a bug or an oversight, but I noticed an interaction where a cat romantically promised to wait for the other to be a warrior- when that cat, already was one ahah. I believe this was a moon after they graduated, so i don't think it was an overlap error between the interaction and the name update? Very minor quirk, but it was a funny little inconsistency.

It's not something we plan to add. They/them works well as a default and it would be a massive amount of work to change it at this point, as well as difficult to determine what pronouns a cat should use. Keeping it neutral is our preference!

Hello! I'm one of the devs. We won't be adding a setting for LGBTQ cats. We've already discussed it in depth. Many of the people on our team are queer and aren't interested in creating a "toggle" to turn off those parts of the game. If you really want to avoid having it in game, I would suggest looking into modding the game to your specifications.

May be a little late now, but you can always get a mediator and slowly lessen cats relationships by sabotaging them with "impact romantic relationships" turned on, keep going until neither has a romantic interest, turn "impact romantic relationships" off again and mediate the relationship back to normal. It works most effectively if you check cat's romantic relationships every few moons.
question: is there a cure for redcough,because i've had a cat who's had it for a total of 13 moons (very proud of him for surviving,considering he got it from a poisoned rabbit at 10 moons) and while he hasnt recovered,he also hasnt died yet. maybe if the cat's redcough is cured,they survive with the raspy lungs condition,or a weaker immune system?
If they're continuing to survive, you may need to make another cat a medicine cat in order to have enough "healing power" available for him to recover? I saw a couple other folk mentioning something similar happening where serious illnesses/injuries wouldn't resolve despite not killing the character until they had more healers.
Redcough is an extremely difficult disease to recover from, but it is possible! Make sure your med cat is well stocked with herbs and pray to StarClan. If they can survive long enough then they'll eventually be cured.
Could you add an update where you can make tribes? Or live as rogues or loners? Or maybe where the cats can live in more extreme places, like on islands or even near volcanoes?
many, many, many small things bunch of new pelts and eye colors, heterochromia can be any two eye colors now, cats can be tinted various colors, you can now have mediators in your clan, new shaders, new herb patrols, option to retire adult cats and demote leaders, and fullscreen added
The new updates (Backgrounds, med den and just more options and events in general) makes the game so much better! I really appreciate the hard work!
Edit: Just been on it and remembered about abuse rip? Like mentors punishing their apps or leaders with meds??? Maybe they could just get a scolding instead?
Hello. I updated my game last night and did not have any problems until today. I tried opening the actual application and my virus protection program told me the file was potentially dangerous, and that it was a trojan, before the application disappeared. I tried redownloading and replacing the file, but it told me the same thing. I've noticed that another person appears to have the same problem. Is there any way to fix this? ^^;
im having the exact issue, i dont know how harmful it actually is but id at least like an explanation since it specifically came up as a trojan and not just a vague "might be a bad file" false positive.
I believe there might have been some sort of interference with downloading the game from the web page. When I installed the game using the itch.io app, there weren't any problems with my antivirus and I scanned my computer multiple times to find that the trojan was no longer attached to the game. I recommend you play this through the itch application if you want to continue playing the game in a safe way!!
idk if its ok to give suggestions but there will be an option where a clanmate betray another clanmate or kill cat kill one of its clanmate due to all the feel of hatred towards that cat? i would love interactions like that it gives more drama to the game, as well if df and starclan cats can have more "physical" interaction with alive cats? like a df cat making one of your cats evil due to its influence and because of that, and if that cat dies they automatically goes to the dark forest??? idk if this ideas are already in development but i cant wait to see more of this game!
@ anyone having trouble playing it, make sure you're opening the .zip and looking for specifically Clangen.exe - you don't need to open any of the other code unless you're looking to edit the game. you may also need to scroll to reach the .exe file!

Hey guys! Once you unzip the file you gotta click the new unzipped file and select the file until it shows you like a MILLION other files, just scroll down until you find a file that says Clangen.exe. Then once selected for the first time, it will say its a virus, but once you select more info there is an option to open anyway. Also, every once and a while it will kick you off the game, so remember to SAVE OFTEN. I hope this helps.
I downloaded clangen like two weeks ago and suddenly disapeared? I downloaded it again, but when i try to open it, it says that it cannot be opened because it's dangerous and it puts it in quarantine?? I clicked the ,,open anyway'' or something button btw. windows 64
I can't even play Clan-gen anymore, because every time I do it stops responding after a few minutes (usually when I try to go on patrols) and I'm forced to close the game then open it again. Totally sours my enjoyment ):
it let me download the game and even open it after bypassing the safety feature, but when I try to open the application it wont actually open? does anyone know how to fix this? (Mac user)

You do have that control! You can always un-trans or get real specific with their gender via the Personal Tab in their profile

I currently have 46 alive cats and no dead cats at all (Except for the starclan guide of course) in one of my clans. The clan is only 29 moons old lol

Nope, we won't be adding either of those due to the extremely painful lives they would realistically live in the wild.

The new updates (Backgrounds, med den and just more options and events in general) makes the game so much better! I really appreciate the hard work!
Edit: Just been on it and remembered about abuse rip? Like mentors punishing their apps or leaders with meds??? Maybe they could just get a scolding instead?

ids are assigned to cats based on how long ago they joined/were born into the clan. so basically the old organizational system

Hello. I updated my game last night and did not have any problems until today. I tried opening the actual application and my virus protection program told me the file was potentially dangerous, and that it was a trojan, before the application disappeared. I tried redownloading and replacing the file, but it told me the same thing. I've noticed that another person appears to have the same problem. Is there any way to fix this? ^^;
it specifically mentions that the wacatac.b!ml file is included in the download...
im having the exact issue, i dont know how harmful it actually is but id at least like an explanation since it specifically came up as a trojan and not just a vague "might be a bad file" false positive.
I believe there might have been some sort of interference with downloading the game from the web page. When I installed the game using the itch.io app, there weren't any problems with my antivirus and I scanned my computer multiple times to find that the trojan was no longer attached to the game. I recommend you play this through the itch application if you want to continue playing the game in a safe way!!
idk if its ok to give suggestions but there will be an option where a clanmate betray another clanmate or kill cat kill one of its clanmate due to all the feel of hatred towards that cat? i would love interactions like that it gives more drama to the game, as well if df and starclan cats can have more "physical" interaction with alive cats? like a df cat making one of your cats evil due to its influence and because of that, and if that cat dies they automatically goes to the dark forest??? idk if this ideas are already in development but i cant wait to see more of this game!

@ anyone having trouble playing it, make sure you're opening the .zip and looking for specifically Clangen.exe - you don't need to open any of the other code unless you're looking to edit the game. you may also need to scroll to reach the .exe file!

First thing you'll want to do here is unzip the file package, you can usually do this on windows with a simple right click and the extract all option should show up, once that's done, open the file and scroll down till you see the clan gen logo with the name, "Clan Gen" Next to it, click that and you'll be good to go! (this was copy and pasted from advice that someone else gave me. Hope it helps u!)

Once you unzip the file you gotta click the new unzipped file and select the file until it shows you like a MILLION other files, just scroll down until you find a file that says Clangen.exe. Then once selected for the first time, it will say its a virus, but once you select more info there is an option to open anyway. Also, every once and a while it will kick you off the game, so remember to SAVE OFTEN. I hope this helps.
I downloaded clangen like two weeks ago and suddenly disapeared? I downloaded it again, but when i try to open it, it says that it cannot be opened because it's dangerous and it puts it in quarantine?? I clicked the ,,open anyway'' or something button btw. windows 64

Oh wow, so thankfully I'm not the only one!
I can't even play Clan-gen anymore, because every time I do it stops responding after a few minutes (usually when I try to go on patrols) and I'm forced to close the game then open it again. Totally sours my enjoyment ):
it let me download the game and even open it after bypassing the safety feature, but when I try to open the application it wont actually open? does anyone know how to fix this? (Mac user)
