yup this is very common! right click open your game (control click if you can't right click). You may need to try once or twice to get it to work but it should work!
Fun game, really enjoy it. but the prey update has made it basically impossible. its impossible to keep a clan alive and they die of starvation when their 80-90% hunger. its just not fun
prey update is still dev only and not finished! it's pretty guaranteed to be buggy etc. at this point.
for tips: check your feeding settings, under the clearing button/freshkill pile. You can change who gets fed first (may want to feed less nutrition first) and ration prey (generally a good idea cause it saves prey and they won't starve when rationing)
you can also manually feed cats, which if they're starving can bring them back to the point where they can hunt and help the clan. Good luck!
Im really sad that my school doesn't allow me to play this on the school computer anymore, it's really addicting and I love it so much. If you get bored of a clan, you can just... make a new one! It's honestly one of the best things. The online version does zoom in on computer.

This happens to a lot of itch.io programs. Since the people behind it are not AAA game editors, they don't have the "editor" recognition on the computer, so to the anti virus, it looks sketchy as hell.
I understand why you wouldn't trust it though, that's basic internet 101. Just know that it's a quirk of Itch.io games.
the reason that this is happening is because clangen is distributed as an .exe file. the warning you are getting is a generic file that EVERY .exe file throws. The reason that .exe files give this warning is that they can change things about your computer, and by running them, you are giving them the permission to do so. This warning is there to prevent people from running .exes without knowing what they can do. Since you know what clangen can do (the only edit it can make to your computer is reading/writing save files) you can safely ignore the warning for this file.
Most antivirus programs will flag Clangen as malicious or potentially malicious, simply because it's unrecognized and thanks to the autoupdater looks very sus. However the game is completely safe to download and run. It's open source as well, so you can go through the code on Github if you want to be really sure.
Hey, IDK if you're taking any ideas, but here's an idea I have for a future update, A fresh Kill Pile. Functions like the med den storage, maybe gets added to Chaos mode??? Gives a more important reason to go hunting, like if the cats don't eat they get the injury or sickness Hunger and eventully Starvation. I think Its a really good idea, do you???
Also the option to move the cat who anchors dead cats to starclan and the darkforest, could you make it so they could also achor cats to the unknown area too? I have one of my favorite clans and their thing is that they don't really believe in Starclan or something like that
Your pc saying this doesn't automatically mean what you're trying to open is unsafe, It just means your pc doesn't recognize the app it's opening. The pc just gives you that warning just in case it is something unsafe and in this case it isn't anything malicious. This game is safe to open, I've had it for months with no issues.
Whenever i try to download it halfway thru download it crashes and just says "file wasnt available on site" and ive tryed just ab everything like messing w anti virus and nothing works
my file randomly crashed and after hours of trying to get it to work again, its in the old version. when i tried to redownload the links, it wouldnt let me open it
It works fine and isn't laggy, but it is super zoomed in and I don't like having to scroll to have to do everything. Other than that there aren't any problem with the game

Yeah, it sometimes does that for me, too. I think it's because when your cats try to make them feel more welcome, the other cats get scared and run off, and I think that's why it worsens.

there are download links here on this page, and at https://clangen.io/download. Get the right download for your system, and you should be able to play the game. Sometimes issues will come up causing more steps to be required, but that's basically how in general.
this is because it's getting cut off at the bottom- you're seeing the top half of the "choose a name for your clan" screen. If you resize your window to fit the game, then it should be fine.
Hey, whenever I load my clangen on mobile it makes me scroll down. If I don’t scroll down I can’t see the bottom half, and if I do scroll down I can’t see the first half. Is there any way to fix this?
usually you'd be able to just re-exit the game and get a nice attribute but that doesn't seem to work anymore. 3 cats in a row got the "teacher" skill.
you can access your game saves on the downloadable version, by hitting the open data directory button in your game settings then you can find your clan folder and your clan_cats.json file, which will have all your cats and most of their attributes in it, including their skills
if you need help with it I'd recommend the discord; we have a dedicated save file editing channel
I’m pretty sure you can make a mobile version now, because stuff like Pythonista 3 exists, at least for IOS, and it says you can make games and stuff on it and websites and all sorts of stuff. But just mentioning it, you don’t have to actually do it yet
Just something I thought I'd mention, I got to a part where it revealed the cat who had murdered another, however it seemed to pick the same cat for both parts? "Condortrail overheard Condortrail muttering in their sleep." I'm not sure if the creators read these comments, but it's just a bug sort of thingy so i thought I'd mention it. I clicked on the cats it mentioned, and it showed the same cat twice. I also checked, and I do not have two cats with the same name.

I was currently playing clangen when all of the sudden it crashed. I thought " Hey! Maybe it will open again! " but it didn't. When i opened it up, a popup saying" "Clangen" application cannot be opened; may be damaged or incomplete. " appeared. This of course, scared me. The icon of the app was also different. It was a default (?) app icon? I checked the file and the app was only 11 mb?
I am honestly scared that all my clans will be deleted. Please, if you know anything about this, PLEASE let me know any information.
!!UPDATE!! I HAVE FIXED MY CLANGEN!! ALL OF MY CLANS ARE SAFE.
by the way i am on a macbook air. if you are only experienced with the linux or windows version, i would be happy if you helped me, but you woudn't help that much like a person who is experienced with the macbook version.

you'd have to download developmental version. On https://clangen.io/download, there's a button in the top right to bring you to download links for it.
Fair warning, prey update is harsh and dev generally is very bug prone! It does crash sometimes.

I picked the "Good options" on patrols for Kittypets or Cats wanting to join, but it says my relationship with outsiders has worsened?
Yeah, it sometimes does that for me, too. I think it's because when your cats try to make them feel more welcome, the other cats get scared and run off, and I think that's why it worsens.
For people who struggle to get this on Chromebook here's a guide:
1. download Linux
2. Open the terminal
3. Type in or copy paste this:

what do you mean by the kittypet mode? an easy mode? a mode where you play as a kittypet?
playing as a kittypet/group of kittypets is probably too far away from the scope of the game- it is ClanGen.
Classic mode does work as an easy mode, if that's what you're looking for.

Hello! When you press new clan on online version its doesn't show anything except a screen with one starclan cat and a few typical cat silhouettes

you can edit the cat skills in the save files if you don't like their skills

since the skill update earlier this year, a cat's first skill is determined when they're one moon old. So you can't just reroll it when they graduate.

yup that's a bug as far as I can tell. iirc murder events don't get a ton of beta testing just because of being a bit rare.
